UFC has discovered what many southern Californians already knew: Travis Browne (9-0) is a talented mixed martial artist and the world's top fight promotion has signed him in kind. The signing comes as no surprise to those who have watched him tear through the highly competitive local scene for the last year as he worked his way up the heavyweight ladder and made quick work of a couple of former UFC guys in the process.

At 6 feet 7 inches tall, Browne regularly weighs in near the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight limit of 265 pounds, checking in at 263 for his most recent bout with Aaron Brink at Gladiator Challenge Vision Quest in February. His perfect record boasts an 89% finishing rate, his only decision was a victory over Mychal Clark in Bellator 8 back in June of 2009.

The NCFC managed product hails from Chula Vista, California and 5 of his 9 career fights took place  in or around the Inland Empire of the state. He had been fighting professionally for just 13 months when he signed the contract with UFC but has beaten former The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 competitor Abe Wagner and Brink in February of 2010 alone.

His first match-up is rumored to be against James McSweeney (4-4), also of TUF 10 fame, and will likely take place in June at either UFC 115 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, or more likely a week later in Las Vegas as part of the TUF 11 finale.
