"Strikeforce: Evolution" On December 19

Earlier today while in Chicago, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed that Strikeforce would indeed be holding an event on December 19 called "Evolution".   Coker also confirmed that Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (10-2) would make his Strikeforce debut against Matt Lindland (21-6).  No main event has been announced yet, however MMA Recap (mmarecap.com) has confirmed with sources close to the event that Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal (5-0), Gilbert Melendez (16-2), and Scott Smith (16-6) are also participating, however no opponents have been named yet.

"Strikeforce: Evolution" will take place from the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California.  Scott Coker had the following to say about the upcoming event.  "We're calling the card 'Evolution.  It's a big card for us as we feature some of the new fighters signed with some of the established, proven stars. Fans will get to see the new and old."

Also confirmed to NOT be fighting on the card is Strikeforce 145lb women's champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos.  Santos was originally thought to take part of the Chicago card, but was forced to withdraw after suffering a shoulder injury.  Santos is being targeted for a first quarter 2010 return.
