Earlier today it was announced by DREAM officials that Yoshiro Maeda (26-7-2) will take on Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight champion Cole Escovedo (15-4) at DREAM 13.  Also announced, was that DREAM officials could not find and opponent for Josh Barnett (25-4) despite earlier rumors of a bout with Mighty Mo.

DREAM 13 will take place at the Yokohoma Arena in Yokohama, Japan on March 20th and will feature a bout between Bibiano Fernandes against Joachim Hansen for the DREAM featherweight title.

Yoshiro Maeda last saw action when he took on former WEC bantamweight champion Chase Beebe at Dream 12 and submitted Beebe by way of rear naked choke in round one.  At the DREAM press conference Maeda indicated that after this win, he would like a title shot at the winner of Fernandes vs Hansen.

Cole Escovedo last saw action when he submitted WEC veteran Jeff Bedard by way of triangle choke to win the Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight title.  Since returning to mixed martial arts competition in May of last year, Escovedo has won four wins in a row.

After searching high and low, DREAM officials could just not find an opponent for Josh Barnett.  Earlier rumors included that Tim Sylvia and Antonio Silva both turned down fights with the former UFC heavyweight champion.  Today Josh Gross had rumored that Barnett would fight Mighty Mo, but the bout could not come to fruition.
