Tyler Combs was originally supposed to fight Kyle Watson but an injury in training has left Combs unsure of who his opponent will be on Friday. MMA Recap's Brent Todd caught up with Combs to find out how his training camp went and his thoughts on his fight at Ruckus 2.
How'd your training camp go?
Training has been good. I've had the flu for a little while and just started training again a couple days ago. I plan on training very intense up until the fight.
Your original opponent got hurt, do you know who your opponent is going to be yet?
I heard that Kyle got hurt in training and I am not sure exactly who I am fighting. I heard it is down to two guys, but I don't know who it is yet.
Was there an aspect of your game you worked more than the rest?
I knew Kyle was a good jiu jitsu guy so I was training my ground game. When he got hurt, I just switched to working on my wrestling as the guys I heard I could be fighting are good wrestlers.
Where are you training out of?
West Chester Ohio. I train with Jorge Gurgel.
Being sick do you think there's any issues with your weight cut?
Yeah a little bit. I haven't been able to eat well because of being sick. I've been throwing stuff up. My weight probably won't be that bad, but I am a little worried about my cardio.
Any sponsors or people you want to thank?
Mia, my brother, my family and friends. Everyone sticking to me when fight time comes up.
