WEC 48 marks the first time the WEC will hold a pay per view event. Making the most of their debut, the WEC has put up two title fights and three solid other matches.
In the night's main event, Jose Aldo will be taking on Urijah Faber for the featherweight title. Aldo won the belt from Mike Brown at "WEC 44: Brown vs. Aldo". His opponent, Faber, has only lost to Brown in the WEC and most recently defeated Raphael Assuncao by rear naked choke at "WEC 46".
The co-main event sees a rematch between Ben Henderson and Donald Cerrone. The two first squared off in October of 2009 where Henderson was able to earn the unanimous decision. Cerrone has since defeated Ed Ratcliff and Henderson beat former welterweight champion Jamie Varner.
Rounding out the card is Mike Brown taking on many Gamburyan. Gamburyan has put together a two-fight win streak including a one-sided victory over Leonard Garcia at "WEC 44". Brown most recently defeated Anthony Morrison in under two minutes at "WEC 46". The winner of this fight should get the next shot at whoever wins between Aldo and Faber.
In welterweight action, Anthony Njokuani will take on Shane roller. Njokuani has put together a three-fight win streak, finishing the likes of Bart Palaszewski, Muhsin Corbbrey and Chris Horodecki. His only loss in the WEC comes from current champion Benson Henderson. Roller has put together a two-fight win streak and is 3-1 in the WEC. Like his opponent, Roller's only loss iin the organization comes at the hands of Henderson.
In a fight that could throw yet another name into the bantamweight title picture, Damacio Page will take on Antonio Banuelos. Banuelos is 8-4 in the organization and has won his last three fights (one fight was outside of the WEC). Page has put together a two fight win streak since losing to Brian Bowles at WEC 35.
